How are you today? Is there something I can do for you? Is there something I can help you with? These are questions that sometimes we don't stop and ask others. We spend so much time wrapped up in our own world that we often don't realize that sometimes the people around us need us. How often can you say that you ask your friends or loved ones how they are and I'm not just talking casually. I'm talking physically, emotionally, and yes even mentally.
Even I must admit that I am just as guilty as the next person. Some days for me are hard to get through and NO one will ever ask is there something I can do to make you feel better, but then when my friend might be having a bad day I don't ask either.
So today take some time to ask yourself have I asked the people I love and truly care about how they are feeling or if they just need someone to vent to. Don't become one of those people that just doesn't care.

Lessons

Life teaches us lessons. It's all about seeing and knowing. Changing and correcting. Never stopping. Always trying to understand, but you must pay attention all the time. We must live to learn and learn to live. Keeping on our toes. Constantly keeping our eyes and ears open, so that we can see and hear what we need to know.

Passing

When someone dies we begin to question our own mortality and the mortality of the ones we love.
We are taught from the time we are born that for everyday that we live we are another step closer to death. We all believe at some point we are invincible until someone you love passes and you realize that you aren't. Death does not discriminate against age, sex, or race and it can happen in the blink of an eye. It is like that old saying goes "here today gone tomorrow". Unfortunately it is something we all must do at some point. It is just making sure that when we go our souls are ready.
I can honestly tell you I am not sure that I believe the other old saying that time heals all wounds. I do think that time eases them enough that we can tolerate them. We never forget the ones that have left us. Especially the ones that mean the most to us. It can sometimes be years after they are gone that a scent or a memory will remind us of the ones that have left us and the wound is then reopened. Yet it is in our nature to learn to move on. For me, as hard as it is I try and remember that this is not the ending for them it is just a new beginning to the next journey that they must take without me.
So tonight as I say my prayers I will remember the ones who have gone before me and know that they are patiently waiting my arrival.
