Networking and Great Posts

I have spent many days networking. In that time I have seen many new blogs and many wonderful holiday giveaways. It has been so fun reading other blog posts. I have to admit I do not comment alot, but to be truthful I honestly don't know what to say without sounding like a flake(LOL!). It always seems so generic once I have typed it. But I must admit many of the posts have been either great recipes, great gift ideas, and in one case a very inspirational story of someones personal experience.
So I have decided to share some of these posts with you.

The first one I am going to share is a post that touches close to home for me. Being financially handicap is something I am truly dealing with. The idea of being broke all of the time is honestly overwhelming. It is truly a battle when you have to live from paycheck to paycheck. In doing this sometimes some of us have to seek out programs that can help us. There is absolutely no shame in doing this.  So maybe by reading one woman's story we can all learn to have a little more compassion for those that do. She also shares the concept of the WIC program that is a wonderful program to be able to utilize if you need it. When all of my girls were small, we used the program and I can tell you that just not having to buy baby formula was lifesaving. I hope that all of you will go over and ceck it out.

Couponing Trip 1

Week Nov 14-18

Here I was Saturday Nov 12 watching an episode of TLC's Extreme Couponing.  Not usually something I watch but was very curious to see how much this woman was going to spend on her 1300.00 groceries ( she only spent 16.00 and some change after store card and coupons). While watching I see a woman that paid off all of her credit card debt with the money she saved from couponing.  This is now very interesting to me.  So I watch some more of the program and pick up a few tips. Then decide that I don't have anything to lose by trying this.
On Sunday, I settle myself to buying four papers. At least this way I had four coupons of whatever was in this weeks paper.  Then I spent all day looking over the store circulars and cutting out coupons. I spent 2 more days trying to find out what was the better sale and where my coupons would be best applied.  Then another 2 days going over my list. I finalized my list on Friday and decided to go to the grocery store on Saturday.
Now some of the stuff I got was needed and some was just because it was a trial run and the stuff was on sale.
So here's how it all worked out. You will see how many of each items, how many coupons I used, original pricing, store discounts, and coupon discounts. The number of coupons used is in ( ).

Couponing Adventures

With a family of five going to the grocery store can be very expensive. So I have decided to try some couponing adventures of my own. Now I by no means think I will be able to buy 500.00 worth of groceries for 10.00, but if I can save some money then that is the whole goal. So stay with me as I chronicle for you some of my grocery trips with my coupons in hand. Maybe some of you will be able to offer me some tips and maybe some of you will want to try it and see how this works for you.

Thanksgiving Day 5 Ps 136: 20-22

16 To him which led his people through the wilderness: for his mercy endureth for ever.
17 To him which smote great kings: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Thanksgiving Day 3 Ps136: 10-14

11 And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endureth for ever.
12 With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever.
13 To him which divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endureth for ever.
14 And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Thank You Jesus

All I can say right now is "Thank You Jesus" and God does answers prays.

As I write this my child lays asleep letting all the pain and fear of the last couple of days drift away. Trying to find her way has not been easy, but after my post on Sunday she finally opened her eyes. She has also finally met the real person she was dating.
I can now only trust that through all the tears and I'm sorry's she will remain free of him. And that some of what was my child now emerges as a growing woman. It won't be an easy road, but with her friends and family supporting her she will get through. We will also remind her on a daily basis of how she deserves better and more than what she was getting. For me I will remind her everyday that she did not give up, she took a stand and chose a side. She chose her side. She chose her future.

Thanksgiving Day 2 Ps136:5-9

5 To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.
6 To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.
7 To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth.
8 The sun rule by day; for his mercy endureth for ever.
9 The moon and stars rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Thanksgiving Day 7 Ps66: 19-20

19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

Enough is Enough

When is enough, enough. When am I allowed to say that I have taken all I can take.
Do we have to allow people to take advantage of us to a point that we are so broken that we are not sure WE can be fixed?
I have tried really hard to try and understand the situation that we are dealing with when it comes to our oldest daughter, but I am truly at a point where I wonder is this ever going to end, when will things get better, or how it will end.
In the course of the last couple of days the situation has escalated to a point where it scares me and so does the ONE. He has made many threats toward me and my husband. So I ask my daughter when do you draw the line. When is the words he speak enough to say I am done with you and your mess.
Apparently nothing he says or does is enough. She tells me what she thinks I want to hear, not what the truth really is. And as much as I want to believe that she will end this, I know in my heart this is still not over. I wish it was but knowing my daughter the way I know her this will just keep going.
Can someone please make me understand what it is my daughter sees in this young man? OR is it really him or the fact that we have said NO! OR does she think that he will scare us enough that we will give them what they want.
The other scary thing is if he acts like this with us, how will he act when she finally turns 18 and can be with him on her own terms. What will he do to her? What will he do to keep her?
As her parent though I know that I must just keep trying to make her see what the truth is and not be blinded by what she thinks is love.
So today I ask each of you to remember her and I in your prayers each day. Hopefully with God's love and strength we will overcome all of this and she will come out a better person for it.

Thanksgiving Day 6 Ps66: 16-18

16 Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
17 I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

My Journey Entry #4

I thought I would give it a few days and then see where I was at before I wrote another post. It is going…okay I guess. I am hungry, I mean really hungry. Last night I dreamed of a pepperoni mushroom pizza with extra cheese. Then I was mad because I woke up before I got to eat it. I understand though my body is doing this weird thing because something it was used to was taken away and I think understanding is the first step to acceptance. I will admit I do feel a lot better and some of my stomach issues have disappeared. That is what keeps me going.

So in my quest for a completely vegetarian lifestyle I was put on against my will I have found that there are things I like that I never even thought of trying. One is Silk Milk. Especially the Silk Pure Coconut. I drink it straight; I drink it in my coffee and tried it in cereal. Word of advice, Silk Pure Cocnut in lucky charms is a bad combination. It made me want to throw up. I think I should by plain for cereal. For those that are like oooo. That sounds good Bobbie. Where do you get it? You can get it at your grocer and it looks like this:

Another thing I have found is the organic section of the supermarket. I avoided the place like the plague but I made myself go down that aisle and found some great stuff but god is it expensive. Organic food= luxury like once every 3 months. However, I did get some really good granola bars and some oatmeal.

Ethnic food is a life saver! I found that some ethnic food is vegetarian. I have a friend that is of Indian decent and he was telling me that a lot of Indian food is vegetarian. I am not into the spiciness but was able to find some things I did like. I also found that most Chinese food, I mean Chinese food that is really Chinese and not the Americanized version is vegetarian. Rice Noodles and soup bowls are a good thing. I try to make as much of it from scratch as I can because of the sodium. I made sticky rice for the first time yesterday and was ecstatic it turned out. I already tried these two recipes and they were both good!

It is amazing what you can find when you have to. I have tried new things that I actually liked and some that I didn’t but it was a step. Life is all about steps and this is no different. I have been taking steps since I was a little over a year old and will continue until I pass from this earth. The thing I have to remember is that like when I was one year old those first steps are always the hardest but once you get your groove going they get easier.

Exercise J It has become sort of a long distant fifteen times removed relative of mine. However, I am sticking it out. I am up to 20 minutes now and love Sweating to the 80’s. I have lost 2 lbs. and I have started a little incentive for myself. Every time I exercise the full twenty minutes I put a dollar in the jar. When I get up to 30 minutes I will add 2.00 and then when I lose the 25lbs I have to lose I will take that money and buy new clothes. YAY!! I do whatever works and new clothes definitely works.

No matter what steps you are taking in life I hope those first, those middle or those last ones are easy for you. Support, like when you are learning to walk is crucial. Not only have I found off line support but I have also found a great support system online. This blog has done wonders but also I have found communities where others are going through what I am and it helps learning how they have coped. I guess in the end it is one giant group of people taking one giant step together. Makes it a lot easier to walk that way.

Bobbie

Thanksgiving Day 5 Ps66:13-15

13 I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,
14 Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah.

Thanksgiving Day 4 Ps6: 10-12

10 For thou. O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.
11 Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laid affliction upon our loins.
12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

Thanksgiving Day3 Ps66: 7-9

7 He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.
8 O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:
9 Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.

Jesus

Thanksgiving Day 2 Ps 66:4-6

4 All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing into thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.
5 Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward children and men.
6 He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.

Internet Meanderings- Thanksgiving

I love Thanksgiving. Great food, families and football! Can’t go wrong with that. So I have been surfing the net trying to find interesting things about Thanksgiving and I wanted to pass some along to you.
Check out this Pumpkin Pie. Now I like Pumpkin Pie but I get bored with plain. So I think we will try this out.

I love facts and learning about things. I found this 32 Bizarre and Fascinating Facts about Thanksgiving online and thought maybe you guys would like it too.

My girls and I did these last year and they were so fun! It kept them busy so Nana could cook and kept the “When are we going to eat” to a bare minimum.

Who doesn’t like free! Download this free Thanksgiving Craft and Recipe book. It comes in a PDF file and has some neat things. An ad will pop up but just hit close.

For little kids there are some great Coloring Pages and Activities here:

My oldest loves to read so I am always looking for books for her. She reads YA now but I used to look at this site a lot to find books for her. This is a great book for your Tween that centers around Thanksgiving.

Little Kids may like reading these:
