Milk Jug Easter Baskets

Do you go out and buy Easter baskets every year? Each of my girls have Easter baskets that I saved throughout the years, but this year I wanted to do something different. Years ago when I was a child my grandmother made an Easter bunny basket out of a milk jug and I have always thought this was a great idea, so now I am sharing it with you, but I put my own spin on it. I didn't just make bunnies.

So here's what you need:

Gallon Size Milk Jug
Paper
Scissors
Markers

First you are going to want to make a stencil of what it is you want to cut into it. So for the cross I drew it on a piece of paper, then cut it out.

Now we are going to mark our milk jug on both sides so that we can cut out the sides but not the handle. Like so:
Now cut and this is what it should look like when you have done cut out the sides:
Now you want to cur around the top :
Notice you have left the handle so that they can carry around the basket.
Now tape your stencil on:

Now just cut out around your stencil, BUT make sure not to go all the way to the bottom of your stencil. ONLY use the upper portion. You want to be able to leave a good portion of the sides on it so that you can use it as the actual basket.
This is what your finished product should look like:
Now you can clean up the edges and then outline the cross like I did in the picture above. I later printed out pictures of lilies and taped them around the bottom portion of the jug.
The Easter Egg is done in this same fashion, but where the bunny is concerned you actually have to move in a little further then just the sides to make the ears.
Now take them and fill them with whatever you like, I am sure your children will enjoy these.
