Scorpio

The star in this constellation is it's brightest and most well known, Antares, which is right at the heart of Scorpio. Antares means "The Wounding" which is precisely what the scorpion is designed to do, wound  and kill.

The aother bright star in this constellation is in the tail and it is known by the name Lesath, which means "The Perverse". It signifies Satan's perverse nature and how he would rebel against God.
So here we the blueprint of Satan's battle with Christ. The serpent throughout scripture has been attacking Christ. For example the Pharaoh tried to destroy all of the children of Hebrews in order that the line leading to the Messiah would be cut off. Athaliah destroyed all the royal seed of Israel, but the kings son wasresecued.  In the book of Esther, Haman tried to destroy all of the Jews, and yet he wasput to rout by Esther and they were saved. Again at Bethlehem, Herod killed all the babies under two years of age in an attempt to destroy the Christ child.  Yet each of these attempts were halted.
Jesus had his struggles with Satan, struggles that climaxed in Gethsemane, the "hour of the powers of darkness", said Christ.  There he felt something more of the sting, but principally there upon the cross of Calvary, the scorpion plunged his stinger in deep and brought him down to the grave.  But as we know Christ conquered both the grave and the scorpion.

So now we move on to the decans in the house of Scorpio. First there is Ophiuchus, which simply means in Greek "The Serpent-Holder". It portrays a great man struggling with a giant serpent , who is trying to reach up and grasp the crown.
Coming out of Arabic into the Greek the name Ophiuchus is Aesculapius. Aesculapius was a greek god and son to Apollo. He was a god-man.  According to Greek mythology he was a healer and brought back the dead by means of blood taken from the side of the goddess of justice. He suffered death from lightnings of heaven, but was raised from the death to glory through the influence of his father Apollo.
Amazing how even Greek mythology paints the portrait of Christ's death and resurrection for you.  Here Christ endures in his soul and body the infinite penalty an wrath of God, but he was not left in the tomb; He was raised to glory, so that he could heal the nations by defrauding the tomb with his victory.

The next decan in this house is Serpens, "The Serpent". Again, the devil is this great antagaonist and he is attempting to gain the crown, but we also see he is being held back by Christ.  In Rev 20 (2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.) we see Chirst binds him, casts him down and locks him up. Christ is the one who has the power to restrain the serpent. According to Luke 10:19 ( Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. ) Christ gives us the power to which He gained at Calvary.  The great victories He has accomplished , He now gives over to those who would be His followers. The victory which Christ won is ours.
