Tagger Thursday

This weeks featured tagger is:
Ka'ipolani
Aloha! My name is Ka'ipolani, but to everyone in the tagging world I'm known as K'Lani. I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i where I still live with my wonderful husband of 19 years, Ronnie. Together we have 3 great boys who drive me crazy but still love more and more every day of my life: Ronson who is 18 and graduates High School in a month; Blake who is 13 and is moving on to High School in the fall and last is Tristan who turns 6 in May and is a joy to be around probably because he's a mirror image of myself, lol! I'm currently a stay-at-home-mom. Been job hunting for the past couple of years but it's hard now with the economic struggles businesses are going through plus the fact that my husband is the main provider, so I have to work around his schedule which some business has already told me that they only want employees who are flexible. What can I do but keep on looking. Thankfully I have my PSP!

I was first introduced to "siggies" in 2007 at Cafemom. I had no idea what they were called and was in awe at all the beautiful signatures, that I knew I just had to have one. I met a woman who was coincidentally named Lani who showed me where to go. I joined a couple of siggy groups and from there I was hooked. Request after request I decided it was time I learned how to make these for myself. That's when I learned about Photoshop. Unfortunately we had a very outdated iMac that had a small RAM and hard drive that there was no way I could install it. The following months was probably hardest on my husband because I kept nagging him to buy a new computer. Eventually during tax season, he bought me a brand new laptop which I was totally in love with. Then I got him to buy me Photoshop Elements. Now the trick was to find someone out there who could teach me how to use it. Unfortunately that was when I found out most people used Paint Shop Pro. So I went out to the library and borrowed Photoshop for Dummies, lol! Also searched online for Photoshop tutorials but they were mostly for the Photoshop CS programs. I was bummed! So I was learning on my own for the time being. Trying to also learn what tubes were and where I could get them. From there I joined more siggy groups where I met Heidi aka ShastaMarie. She really was the first person who helped me with what I needed to know to get started. So from there, I asked my husband to buy me Paint Shop Pro. Until then I kept learning about PSE from books. Then I joined another siggy group called Ravens. They were the best, they really helped me learn what copyright compliance and terms of use meant. When I finally got my PSP, they told me to join PSPU (Paint Shop Pro University). It was great, they started from the beginning and I was really learning alot. Unfortunately during my sophomore level they decided to close down. I was totally bummed because I wasn't where I wanted to be. I was nowhere near the level of making tags, really nice tags. Then I learned there were tag tutorials out there, and that's basically where I learned mostly everything else. Tutorial after tutorial and reading books is where I learned most of what I know today. To this day, I'm still learning plenty and enjoying it very much. Being a member in different tag groups helps out a lot because of the challenges they have every week and seeing the level of tag makers makes me want to strive to do better.

Right now I'm a tutorial writer/tag maker for different scrap designers and stores which you can find on my personal blog, http://klanidesigns.blogspot.com.
