Murder Takes Time-Giacomo Giammatteo
A string of brutal murders has bodies piling up in Brooklyn, and Detective Frankie Donovan knows what is going on. Clues left at the crime scenes point to someone from the old neighborhood, and that isn't good. Frankie has taken two oaths in his life--the one he took to uphold the law when he became a cop, and the one he took with his two best friends when they were eight years old and inseparable. Those relationships have forced Frankie to make many tough decisions, but now he faces the toughest one of his life; he has five murders to solve and one of those two friends is responsible. If Frankie lets him go, he breaks the oath he took as a cop and risks losing his job. But if he tries to bring him in, he breaks the oath he kept for twenty-five years--and risks losing his life.
My Review:
Wow, just wow. I took this book pool side with me and let's just say I never set foot inside the pool. It grabbed me and then just wouldn't let go. I took it to bed and when I looked at the clock it said 3:20 AM. It grips you and keeps you.
I found myself reading and turning the pages as fast as I could trying to figure out what was going on. As most of you know I had quit reading for awhile when I was very sick and even now I hand pick my books to read, I will never regret the day I picked this one. It is a gripping novel full of twists and turns. It has everything I love in a book and then some. Giammatteo is an amazing story teller and hits it spot on. I absolutely cannot wait for the second book!
The only thing I did not like was the cover. It is boring, one dimensional and doesn't stand out in the least. Unfortunately if I had seen this book in a store or at a book sale I would have passed it up because of the cover. While us readers love what is on the inside unfortunately we are drawn by what is on the outside first.
Who would I recommend to read this? Just about everybody. Seriously. This book is just that good! It does have some graphic scenes and strong language but you can get past that. The only thing I recommend is that you read the book when you have plenty of time to devote to it because honestly, you will NOT be able to put it down!
Til' We Read Again,
Bobbie

Not Allowed To Parent Anymore
To all accounts 18 seems to be the magic number, but how do you parent a child that is not quite eighteen and doesn't want you to parent them anymore.
Amazing how often I have heard that "I am almost 18". My usual answer was "Yeah So!". Yet , then I would hear in the same breath " I am only a kid". My answer to that is "No can't have one foot in one world and one in the other when convenient for you." When did 18 become that all elusive magic number, I am curious.
They aren't really adults, yet they aren't children anymore. Most kids seem to believe though that once they turn 18, that they don't need to be parented.
Without invading her privacy and out of respect for her, the story can not be told in full length. Only the tidbits I am going to share. So that brings me here, my almost 18 year old has decided I am not allowed to parent anymore. I am only allowed to now watch from the sidelines. I can only be her Mom, when she wants me to be her Mom.
Many days, I have sat and remembered what once used to be my precious baby girl and now the almost woman who has replaced her. If I said I was proud or approved of what she is doing or who she has become, I would be telling you a lie. And as much as I love her, I still have to be honest with myself. I handle it well most days, there are still many though that the pain of rejection is often to much to bear. And unfortunately, these events have affected more than me and her, they have affected many. They have destroyed relationships that I am not sure, can be repaired, at least not for now and maybe even never. Sides were chosen and lines have been crossed.
So now I spend everyday praying and trying to find solace in my God and the fact that someday, maybe not today or even tomorrow, she will have to look back. I pray that God helps her to make the right choices, for her well being, and most of all her soul. The only other thing is to remind her daily that I Love Her! and always will. And still I know that, that is not enough to change what is, what has been, and even what will be.

The Unexplainable!
So first my sabbatical lasted a little longer than I thought. It has been a rough couple of months or should I say years for me, but anyway I wanted to take this time to share with you a few of the things that I have been up to while on vacation!
I have always shared with all of you my faith on this blog and that has and will never change. But I thought I might share with you that I also believe that there are things that are unexplainable out there.
I spent a great deal of time reading and checking out other sites and it is amazing to see that there are many people in this world that feel the same way. They have had experiences that they can not in any way explain. Whether it be ghosts or demons? I am not sure, but some of the stories are often down right scary. So I thought I might ask have you or someone you know ever experienced something you can not explain?
If you have then please visit my newest venture http://chesapeakehaunted.com/ that goes live tonight at midnight. This is a site that a few of my friends and myself have put together so that people can know the things that each of us have experienced. Also, if you would like to share please feel free.
